Intensive Outpatient Program in Colorado
Solutions is the name of Jaywalker Lodge’s intensive outpatient program that caters to people that need the structure that comes with inpatient treatment but does not require 24-hour care. Residential, or inpatient treatment, isn’t right for everyone. Everyone’s journey with substance abuse is different, as well as their needs, and the treatment they receive. Depending on various factors including the intensity of one’s addiction, some people may not require inpatient treatment as part of their overall treatment plan.
Others are either unwilling or unable to put their daily life on hold to enter into an inpatient program and live at the facility while undergoing substance abuse and addiction treatment. Therefore, they may be a candidate for other levels of care including outpatient treatment.
For those that are looking for an alternative to residential treatment, Jaywalker Lodge offers Solutions, an intensive outpatient program located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Carbondale, Colorado.
What is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured and comprehensive treatment program designed to help individuals struggling with addiction. It is a level of care that falls between residential treatment (inpatient) and traditional outpatient programs.
Benefits of an Intensive Outpatient Program
The biggest benefit of an IOP, especially when compared to inpatient treatment, is the flexibility and freedom that an intensive outpatient program such as Solutions offers. With intensive outpatient treatment, you come to the facility during the day for your various treatment and therapy sessions and then return home to your daily life and responsibilities.
While you may not be living at the facility, with an IOP you have access to many of the same treatments and therapies that those participating in residential treatment have, meaning you can get the treatment you need while still being able to go to work, school, or care for your family.
What To Expect During Intensive Outpatient Treatment
Intensive outpatient treatment provides a wide variety of therapies including:
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Family therapy
- Support Groups
At Jaywalker Lodge, our intensive outpatient program (Solutions) is a 90-day program that begins once a Jaywalker has completed The Landing. Solutions provide ongoing group and individual therapy while clients engage in school, work, or significant volunteer opportunities.
Our clients who participate in an IOP can expect a weekly schedule consisting of various therapies and treatments including yoga and meditation, as well as life skills sessions and recreational activities.
Intensive Outpatient Programs vs Outpatient Programs
While both intensive outpatient programs and standard outpatient programs provide flexibility and freedom in that you don’t need to live at the treatment facility to complete the program, there are some key differences between the two including:
- Level of Care – IOPs offer a higher level of care and structure compared to regular outpatient programs. IOPs typically involve more treatment hours per week and provide a more comprehensive approach to recovery.
- Commitment – IOPs require a more significant time commitment, usually involving several hours of treatment each day, multiple days per week. Regular outpatient programs typically have fewer treatment hours and may meet once or twice a week.
- Supervision – IOPs provide a higher level of supervision compared to regular outpatient programs. IOPs often involve regular drug testing, check-ins, and accountability measures to ensure individuals are adhering to their recovery plan.
Is Intensive Outpatient Treatment Covered By Insurance?
Many private insurance providers cover at least some of the cost of intensive outpatient treatment. Many insurance providers are more likely to cover a greater portion of an IOP since intensive outpatient treatment is typically cheaper than residential treatment. The amount of coverage you receive depends largely on your insurance provider and the plan that you have.
At Jaywalker Lodge we work with many private insurance companies to help their clients get the treatment they need at a price they can afford. If you want to learn more about what your insurance provider does or does not cover, you can reach out to your insurance representative or you can fill out our insurance verification form. We will look over your policy and let you know what is and isn’t covered before starting treatment.
Who Is a Candidate for an Intensive Outpatient Program?
IOPs typically offer a higher level of support and accountability compared to standard outpatient programs. As a result, the ideal candidate for an intensive outpatient treatment program would be a Jaywalker that may need more intensive care than what a standard outpatient program offers but does not need 24-hour care and monitoring.
Since you don’t live at the facility while participating in intensive outpatient treatment, you must have a safe, stable, and supportive home environment to return to every day. This could either be a private residence or a sober living facility.
Who Would Benefit From an IOP?
If you are considering an intensive outpatient program, it is important to speak to a treatment professional first to make sure that an IOP is right for you.
As we mentioned earlier, a Jaywalker that would benefit most from intensive outpatient treatment is someone that does not require 24-hour care and monitoring. This person also has a supportive and safe home environment to return home to every day and is looking for the flexibility that comes with an IOP so that they may continue to fulfill their daily responsibilities.
Our Solutions Program is also ideal for a Jaywalker that has completed inpatient treatment and requires the structure that comes with an IOP as a step-down program.
