Jaywalker Lodge is excited to be part of another incredible production coming to Carbondale this Friday. Project Verse featuring Def Poetry Jam star, Lemon Anderson and local wordsmith, Wade Newsom will be hosting a Spoken WordFest at The Crystal Theatre Friday night beginning at 8 PM. The evening featuring award-wimming performance artists is a culmination of a week of Poetry Events. Monday night’s Youth Poetry Slam competition featured local middle and high school students. Aloud! The High Altitude Poetry Jam will take place Thursday night in Aspen at The Wheeler. Friday afternoon will afford Jaywalker Clients and the local Recovery community the opportunity to participate in a Poetry workshop given by Lemon and Wade at the Third St. Center.
The Spoken Word is among human kind’s oldest an most enduring art forms. Jaywalker and A New Path clients and Alumni will have the opportunity to learn from the best Friday Afternoon. The free workshop is open to anyone in the Recovery community. The event will take place in the Calloway Room beginning with lunch at 12:30 and the poetry workshop beginning at 1:15 PM, ending around 3:30.
Lemon Anderson shares about his coming -of-age experiences while growing up in Brooklyn in the 80″s and 90’s. Anderson’s poems touch on young love, sibling rivalry, juvenile crime, addiction and ultimately personal triumph toward self-discovery and redemption.
Wade Newsom is a professional cyclist, coffee shop owner an wordsmith by way of poetry. Wade first garnered notable attention with his spoken word performances at the 5Point Film Festival. He has since performed in New York City and in numerous venues in Colorado.
Tickets for Friday nights event are $ 10 and are now on sale at the Blend and night of the show at the Crystal.
