Another great night at the Jaywalker Alumni Clubhouse as Alumni and Friends of Jaywalker took in the 86th Annual Academy Awards Show. Congrats to Fellow Longhorn Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto who took home Best Actor and Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club. Personally, it was a tossup for me as to best Picture between Dallas Buyers Club and 12 Years a Slave. They were two of the most visceral and powerful Movies I have experienced in some time. !2 Years a Slave was definitely deserving of the Oscar for best Director and Best Picture. Cate Blanchett was also Oscar worthy for her performance in Blue Jasmine where she portrayed an addicted and delusional former socialite. I found it interesting that Addiction played a prominent role in Many of the top movies and performances. Movie-going is one of the many activities I share with my friends in Sobriety and it was awesome to spend the evening sharing our Movie memories.
