Being in recovery, I have shared my story with many other recovering addicts and alcoholics. Being able to share my story with the 8th graders was new to me but beneficial. Never did I have a person I might be able to relate to come in and share their real experience with drugs and alcohol so I was never able to relate. I hope that being able to share my true story might allow these kids to relate to me on a truer level and gain some insight on this disease and what can happen.
