A Comedy of Substance Abuse featuring Mark Lundholm,  presented by A Way Out!mark lundholm jpeg

Mark your calendars and spread the word, the comedy event of the year is coming to to the Roaring Fork Valley Friday, June 14th at 7:30 PM. The internationally renowned comedian Mark Lundholm will be performing a free show at the PAC3 theater in the Third Street Center in Carbondale, Colorado.

Mark Lundholm, a former San Quentin inmate and a self described “mental patient and homeless wino” has turned his personal experience with addiction into a therapeutic career. “His show details his struggles with addiction and his journey to sobriety in a witty and irrevocably honest manner.” I recently had the opportunity to meet Mark and attend his workshop for addiction and treatment professionals. Mark is a dynamic, revolutionary entertainer and a passionate advocate for the recovery community.

We count ourselves fortunate to live and play in such a beautiful landscape with an unmatched quality of life. Unfortunately, we’re not immune to the increasing mental health issues, addiction problems, and abnormally high suicide rates.

The non-profit, A Way Out (formally a project of the Right Door) has been created to fill a gap in the valley to help individuals and their families find financial, educational, and emotional support comprising treatment and care in overcoming addictions. The organization networks with individuals, local agencies, counselors and national treatment centers to provide scholarships and solutions to those in need.

In order to reintroduce themselves to the valley and increase awareness, A Way Out is underwriting this free event, although donations will be greatly appreciated and accepted. In addition, Josh Behrman of PAC3 is graciously donating the theater for the evening.

So please, join us for an alcohol-free, full-throttle, heart-pounding night of laughter which examines the addictive tendencies and disFUNction in us all.

With Gratitude,
