31 % of Pitkin County detox patients seek further treatment “

Krista McClinton, Regional Manager for Mind springs Health

If using the ‘percentage of clients who seek further treatment after checking into detox’ as as measure of success, then the Aspen Detox center is certainly performing well. The state average is only 3% while the Aspen Mind Springs Health Detox program boasts a 31 % rate of patients who seek further treatment for their substance abuse disorder.

This necessary piece to the significant drug and alcohol puzzle of our community has just been awarded funding, for 2015, by the Pitkin county commissioners and a broad- based Roaring Fork Valley Intergovernmental agreement. The Aspen Detox has been operated by Mind Springs Health since January of 2013 and served over 130 clients last year alone in the two bed facility.

Jaywalker Lodge Alumni play a significant role in the Detox center, and I would suggest also, its success. No, I’m not talking about patients, we currently have four of our Alumni working as Detox Workers/Counselors. These men are using their Recovery experience and skills developed to ” stay sober and help other alcoholics/addicts to achieve sobriety.” As many of us know all too well…dealing with wet alcoholics and sick, detoxing addicts is not for the weak of heart !
