TPAS Malibu 2014

We’re Revolutionizing the World of Addiction Treatment… Together.”

“Transformative, Life-changing, best conference I have ever attended, spiritual renewal ” – These quotes and more were used to describe the the TPAS (Treatment Professionals in Alumni Services) Collaborative which just wrapped up in beautiful Malibu, CA. I had the opportunity to attend this third annual conference with 70 plus other Alumni/Recovery support service professionals at the amazing Serra Retreat overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Serra retreat is a Franciscan Monastery which provided the perfect setting to connect, share, and learn from leaders in our industry.

TPAS is a membership organization that promotes innovation, best practices, and professional development to strengthen recovery communities and enhance the treatment continuum. The Collaborative process utilized Open Space Technology which allowed us to identify our own agenda, self-select into discussion groups, and work with others who were also interested in that topic. Not only did I take away a wealth of knowledge from the discussions, Jordan Spector, from A New Path, an I facilitated a session on collaboration between treatment centers.

I have to agree that this was, without a doubt, a transformative event. I left the retreat with new ideas, renewed motivation, and a fresh perspective on how vital and important our long-term recovery support services are to our clients. I truly believe that the connections and friendship I forged at this amazing event will result a more dynamic and thriving alumni program, here at Jaywalker and in collaboration with other treatment programs.

With Gratitude,

Mark Kloster
Alumni Coordinator
