2013 JWU Fall Orientation

Every semester the Jaywalker U students embark on a teambuilding/transformational trip where they not only work on themselves but also bond with their peers. This year the Jaywalker U men headed to Steamboat Springs or as the locals like to call it, “The Boat.” Our 100 year old rustic cabins provided a setting free of the distractions that come with being a college student. This set the tone and purpose for our fall semester orientation. On arrival it was apparent that the students were out of their element and were feeling a bit uncomfortable. After a few hours of adjustment the guys began to look to each other for support and entertainment as opposed to their iPhones and computers. The first day set the tone for the weekend. Every Tuesday at 230pm the Jaywalker U students join A New Path for a Qigong class with Shifu Jon. Qigong is the practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation. A New Paths Qigong class is open to the public and we hope to see more of you there! 3.88 GPA

Everyone here at Jaywalker would like to congratulate the Jaywalker U students for completing the 2013 spring semester with a house GPA of 3.88. During our addiction a lot of us were incapable of going to college, not to mention getting good grades. Here at Jaywalker U the students are showing us that recovery, college, and good grades are possible. A survey conducted by Alexandre B. Laudet indicates that this notable GPA of the Jaywalker U students is in line with the GPA of Collegiate Recovery Communities (CRC) across the country. CRC’s have higher GPA’s than the general collegiate population.  In addition, Laudet’s survey determined that the graduation rate of CRC students is 89%, while the graduation rate of the general student body is 61%.
