Lending a Helping Hand

Our Operations Team broke out of their normal duties today by lending a hand to our Facilities Manager, Rocky Willcuts. Rocky’s lists of duties as Facilities Manager are large and ever growing. With winter behind us, the shovels and plows put away, our clients away on Expedition and some “spring cleaning” needing to be done. Kortney was out in the Beautiful Colorado sunshine weeding flower beds and laying new mulch down. Natalyn and Steve were found inside one of our buildings giving our walls a fresh coat of paint. As my grandma used to say, “Many hands make light work.” We are truly a “team” here at Jaywalker and this is another shining example. I look forward to the next client expedition and what our Operations Team will be helping out with. Penny Brown Administrative Coordinator Jaywalker Lodge

Extreme Recovery

Jaywalkers newest employee and Chief Recovery Officer, Dirk Eldredge, joined the Jaywalker cross-fitters for his first experience with CrossFit. Although Dirk didn’t have the nicest things to say during the work out, he had a change of heart afterwards and officially signed up to work out four times a week at Sopris CrossFit. Dirk, you make a great addition to the team and we will see you at noon tomorrow! Donnie Hagenbart Admissions & Marketing Manager Jaywalker Lodge

Congrats John on 6

Jaywalker’s Director of Outreach Services & Alumni Relations, John Schneier, celebrated 6 years of sobriety yesterday. “To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends – this is an experience you must not miss. We know you will not want to miss it.” Alcoholics Anonymous Pg 89 “You live this John. We love ya bud!” – Patrick Shaffer “Congratulations John. Your passion for recovery will continue to carry you to places you never could have imagined.” – Dirk Eldredge “John – congratulations! You’re a true inspiration for everyone here, in many ways.  Proud to call you not only my co-worker, but also my friend. Cram that!” – Natalyn Cumings “I let him beat me skinning up McClure Pass 5 years ago to boost his suffering self-esteem.  And look what we have now!”…

Happy Birthday Mike

Mike Goerne is celebrating his belly button birthday today. Mike is originally from Minnesota but truly embraces the active lifestyle of Colorado. Mike’s love of Lacrosse, cross-fit and dirt bikes keep him very busy when he isn’t at Jaywalker. He gives back to our community in many ways especially coaching Lacrosse and hockey.  In fact, this year the Aspen high school boys Lacrosse team made it to the final four in state with almost all of the players returning next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring home the championship next season. Mike has been here since the start of Jaywalker and has worked harder than we know to ensure it’s success. In all that you do Mike, we see hard work, loyalty and dedication, whether it’s your personal life or business. Happy birthday Mike and enjoy your day. Hard work spotlights the Character of people; some turn up…

Bachelor Party

Jaywalker’s Director of Admissions Pat Shaffer is all set to tie the knot in July, so we took off to Long Boat Key, Florida for a few solid days of bachelor action. While the trip was filled with a full dose of hanging at the beach, tennis, and kicking back, all the excitement happened while shark fishing with Captain Gary. It was a legendary morning on the fishing boat and that left Captain Gary, who has been guiding for 20 years, calling the other fishing guides saying, “You’re never gonna believe this…” To get the details you’ll have to ask Pat next time you see him. I know we’ll be talking about it forever, saying “Remember at Pat’s Bachelor party”. Congratulations Pat! Mike Goerne Director of Operations Jaywalker Lodge

Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE)

Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) at the Advanced International Symposium: Addictive Disorders, Behavioral Health and Mental Health in Colorado Springs   (TRE) Trauma Releasing Exercises are a cutting edge technique in stress reduction, tension releasing and the healing of trauma.  David Berceli, Ph.D. is the creator of this method. TRE consists of a set of simple physical exercises designed to release the chronic muscular tension that is held deep within the structure of the body.  TRE is intended to be used as a self-help method that is easily learned, has immediate effects and can be integrated into a simple daily routine to help restore a sense of inner-peace and relaxation. We have been using the TRE exercises at the Jaywalker Solutions Program since 2010.  The men have personally endorsed TRE as a stress management tool. The first picture shows Dr. Berceli teaching TRE to the military.   The second picture…
