Walking Together

We walked together making this family program the quintessential Jaywalker experience. We had men from our whole continuum, Lodge, Solutions, Sober-Living and MIOP, proving to all that remaining in our care is a good thing to do. Jacquie calmed us down while Art Kleinschmidt showed his many skills. The mountain gave us perfect snow and Chef Brian had a baby. A Jaywalker man stepped up, selflessly helping in our new dad’s absence. The techs, Seth, Tony, and Cable were instrumental in keeping our families happy while Steve Shipway became known as more than just a facilities assistant and cook; he is now known as a fine chef and dedicated man and friend. Thanks to all those who gave of themselves to make this family program a great success and congratulations to our Chef and his bride for sharing with us the birth of their first… Vincent Trom. To the staff:…

Cary sober living

Cary Pew is a prime example of a Jaywalker who comes to the valley to get sober, but stays in the valley because he has found a life rich in sobriety.  Cary has transformed from a man broken by his disease to a service-oriented Jaywalker employee.  Cary is the core of what is good and productive in the Solutions program.  He always makes himself available to the men, takes them on service expeditions (no easy feat), and is the man behind and responsible for all things pertaining to the Solution’s daily schedule.  Cary has trained and educated himself to become a Certified Addiction Counselor, starting as a CAC-I and working as a tech.  He has now taken all the course work necessary for a CAC-II endorsement.  In addition to being The Main Man at Solutions, Cary also helps Lenny Beaulieu as a co-facilitator at our MIOP program on Monday and…

Cary sober living

The Jaywalker outpatient clients headed to Moab this past week for three days of golf, mountain biking, skydiving and helicopter riding. A total of 8-clients participated in our trip to Moab along with two staff members from Wednesday March 18 to Friday March 20, 2015. Our men were fully engaged in activities throughout the trip and as usual, represented Jaywalker Lodge in fine form. Six of the eight clients jumped on Friday morning at the Moab airport. Skydive Moab has been hosting Jaywalker clients for 3-years and their professional crew put all at ease before the jump. For 5 of our clients, this was a first jump. Also, a first jump for our Solutions staff member, Cary Pew. For the 2-clients who were not so thrilled with idea of jumping form a perfectly good aircraft, a helicopter ride through the Canyonlands was a sufficient back up activity. The helicopter tour…

Now Accepting Insurance

Jaywalker Lodge is pleased to announce we are now able to bill on behalf of clients and their families for out-of-network insurance reimbursements in all of our programs. Effective immediately, Jaywalker Lodge, Solutions and Outpatient treatment programs will begin to work with our clients’ health care plans as patients move through the Jaywalker clinical continuum of care. We recognize that insurance benefits will financially help the families who have invested in loved ones needing extended care treatment. Jaywalker opened its doors in 2005 as an extended care program for men struggling with chronic relapse, emphasizing transition into community in early recovery. We have expanded our services to include a total of four programs to help men through their first year in sobriety. Jaywalker Lodge, Solutions, Jaywalker Sober Living, and MIOP have evolved to provide our clients with a recovery continuum. Please feel free to call our Admissions line with questions:…

It’s SNOW time

When it’s time to play, the Rocky Mountains teach us the value of “serious fun” and what it really means to “live in the moment.” Jaywalkers proximity to some of the worlds greatest skiing and snowboarding is one of the primary reasons I chose to undertake treatment in the Roaring Fork Valley. I may have came for the skiing, but I stayed for the incredible Recovery experience and community that Jaywalker provides. The Mountain based expeditions are an integral component in all of Jaywalker’s programs and during the winter months we strap on the snowboards and Skis and head to Aspen-Snowmass to shred the mountain. Our clients are challenged to improve not only mentally and spiritually but, physically, as well. This year we have had abundant early snowfall and Aspen Mountain will open early this weekend and Snowmass will open daily beginning November 23rd. Below I have listed the on-mountain…
