Papa Ed Celebrates 4 Years

I’ll never forget the day I met Ed Milos. It was my third day at Jaywalker and I was still feeling homesick and unsure about whether or not I wanted to be here. I remember calling my Dad that afternoon and telling him that I didn’t plan on staying out here for 90 days. He told me to go to a meeting, so I did. It was the Thursday night men’s meeting, which Ed was chairing. I remember sitting down, looking across the room and seeing this guy dressed head to toe in Boston sports apparel. After the meeting Ed approached me and asked where I was from. Turns out we knew each other from back home. Ed went to the same school as my sister and hung around some of the same circles as I did. After reminiscing with Ed on life back home, and hearing about his experiences at Jaywalker,…

Congratulations Ed

Jaywalker would like to congratulate its very own, Ed Milos, on celebrating 3 years of continuous sobriety today. Ed came to Jaywalker Lodge three years ago from Massachusetts where he had been battling drug addiction since the age of 14. After graduating The Lodge program, Ed moved into a local sober house where he developed a love for the outdoors. One of Ed’s favorite hobbies is playing hockey, and because of his drug addiction and a tragic injury in high school was unable to play. Since getting sober he has been able to play the sport that he loves so much and help others find their passions as well. After volunteering for Jaywalker for over a year, Ed was hired in August 2011 as an overnight residential tech and has since moved to the full time day shift. When congratulated about his 3 years of sobriety Ed stated, “I am…

Alumni Hockey

These Guys take their Hockey seriously! Growing up in Texas, football was our religion. The only hockey I remember watching was the 1980 USA Olympic team victory. Of course here in the mountains and with our guys from the north, hockey is the sport of choice, and these guys have taken sport worship to a whole other level. More than a dozen clients and alumni from Jaywalker had the opportunity to experience an awesome game last Friday night in Aspen. The Aspen Leafs, featuring two of our alumni (Ed M. # 7 and Ian S. # 19) battled the Park City Pioneers to a one point overtime loss. Although the Leafs didn’t win this night our men and myself were treated to some top level, exciting Hockey and the opportunity to cheer on our talented Alumni. As a side note, our own Ed M. leads the team in Penalty Minutes!…
