Bobby Celebrates 24

Happy 24th Birthday to our Founder and friend, Bobby Ferguson! Bobby has inspired us all through his visionary approach to life in sobriety. He is a fantastic husband to his beautiful bride, Andi, and father to his two overachieving and,” oh so kind children, Harry and Calli!” Your amazing family and the creation of Jaywalker Lodge would not have been possible, if not for your 24 years of passionate commitment to the program of AA! Bobby’s recovery is truly a great example of the fact that, “recovery is a promise of your future, not a consequence of your past.” All of us at Jaywalker Lodge thank you for your passionate commitment to the fact that all things are possible for each of us in recovery. Your vision and commitment to create and build Jaywalker Lodge into one of the finest providers of care in the country, is something each of…

Jaywalker Ethics

Jaywalker Lodge Residential Treatment Center Mural

Yesterday on July 15th, an article was posted on the Behavioral Healthcare website, a site dedicated to the business of treatment and recovery. The article discusses legal and ethical rules in the arena of testimonials and case studies. Bobby Ferguson our owner and founder was quoted several times in the article which also references Jaywalker’s Code of Ethics. Here at Jaywalker, and at other treatment centers around the country, we often use and share our clients success stories as marketing tools. We are obviously very proud of our alumni, and sometimes nothing is more helpful to a man potentially deciding to go to treatment than the testimonial of someone who has been in their shoes. There are several key factors we want to make sure we consider when collecting, sharing, and using these testimonials and case studies. Obtain the clients explicit written permission to use the case for marketing purposes….

Walking the Walk – Congrats to Lois on 25 Years

Lois and daughter sober support

Congratulations to Lois on 25 years of sobriety. It’s a major recovery milestone for a major recovery role model here at Jaywalker Lodge. Much more than “just” our fearless Program Director at Jaywalker Lodge, Lois leads the rest of us towards recovery in every conceivable way. In spiritual terms, Lois walks her talk. In a community like ours – where long term sobriety is precious and prized above all else – Lois shows up daily both as a wise and compassionate treatment professional… and as a humble person engaged and connected to others in her own recovery. For this reason, all of us pay close attention when Lois has something to say. We know it comes from the heart, from personal experience, and what Lois recommends is steeped in wisdom and is rooted deeply in her own recovery. Lois is well known for walking the walk in literal terms as…

Half way to 46

We wanted to pause on this day to applaud our founder & friend Bobby Ferguson for 23 years of sobriety! Pretty cool when a kid from NYC can find not only himself but find it in his heart to help countless others. We are all thankful that Bobby relocated to the Rocky Mountains & executed on his vision of having fun in sobriety by creating Jaywalker Lodge. We at Jaywalker think Bobby’s spirit, passion & focus as a pioneer in the industry of recovery sets him in a special place. At the same time we know what is most meaningful is the kind of father & husband Bobby is to his amazing children & his Bride Andi. We all just want to sit in gratitude on this special day and say, “Thank You.”   It’s funny, Bobby is the only man I know that can harness the respect of all…

If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn’t want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life.” Enjoy life , we did! This past weekend, 13 Jaywalker Alumni and clients joined 200 other people seeking to enjoy life in Recovery. Code of Ethics

Jaywalker Founder and CEO Bob Ferguson recently served as a panelist at the National Conference on Addiction Disorders (NCAD) in St. Louis.  Following the August conference, and acting on a suggestion from a fellow panelist, Ferguson drafted Jaywalker’s first code of ethics. As the current chair for the Ethics committee of The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP), Ferguson was asked a to write a guest commentary about the ethics panel for Addiction Professional Magazine.  The article outlines some of the ethical issues challenges facing the addiction treatment industry today, and encourages other treatment providers to draft their own ethics code and post it on their websites. “The idea is for each treatment program to articulate its own ethical values; and for each of us to hold ourselves accountable to their own code of ethics,” says Ferguson. “Until each of us becomes transparent and accountable, the ethics conversation is more about finger-pointing and less about values and principles.”…

Bob Ferguson Celebrated 22 years

My favorite way to describe Bobby is simple; “He’s 52 going on 22.” Anyone that has stepped on the ice to play hockey, gone hiking, played lacrosse, just name any outdoor activity, sat in a meeting, or had any interaction with him knows that his energy level is high and insanely off the charts. Bobby uses his energy to passionately live in each area of his life. He has coined such phrases as “Serious Joy” and “Extreme Recovery” for Jaywalker Lodge which, in my eyes, is the most accurate way to describe how he approaches his own life in sobriety.  The dedication in which Bobby has made to his own sobriety, has rewarded him many great gifts in life, however he still lives every moment as if it’s the most important.  Bobby strives to constantly grow by working with others, whether he’s working with sponsees or colleagues in the treatment…
